Camera-Based Pose Tracking

Motiweights uses your smartphone’s camera and computer vision to track your body movements during exercise:

How the Camera Tracks You:

  • Our AI suggests exercises based on your personalized workout program
  • Your phone’s camera captures video of you performing the exercise

Privacy Note: Video is processed in real-time and is not stored or recorded. Only the rep counts and movement data are saved to your workout log.

Real-Time Processing

The camera-based tracking happens in real-time:

  1. Video Capture: Camera captures your movement at high frame rate
  2. Pose Detection: AI identifies key body points (shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, etc.)
  3. Movement Analysis: Tracks how these points move through space
  4. Pattern Matching: Compares movement to the selected exercise pattern
  5. Rep Detection: Identifies when a complete repetition occurs
  6. Logging: Rep is recorded with timestamp and relevant metrics
  7. Display Update: Your screen shows the updated count immediately

This entire process takes milliseconds, so the displayed count updates in real-time as you perform your reps.

Note: An internet connection is currently required for the AI processing. Offline mode may be added in future updates.

The Workout Experience

Step 1: Setup Your Workout

Select or Generate Program:

  • Choose from pre-made programs based on your goals
  • Let AI generate a personalized program
  • Create your own custom workout
  • Use a previously completed workout

Review Today’s Session:

  • See which exercises are programmed
  • Check target sets and reps
  • Review weights you used last time
  • Read any notes from previous workout

Warm-Up:

  • Follow guided warm-up routine (optional)
  • Prepare your equipment
  • Get mentally focused

Step 2: Start Your First Exercise

Select Exercise:

  • The app suggests the next exercise from your program
  • Confirm the exercise you’re about to perform
  • View demonstration video if needed
  • Can also manually select a different exercise if desired

Position Your Phone:

  • Place your phone where the camera can see your full body
  • Prop it against a water bottle, wall, or use a phone stand
  • Ensure adequate lighting for the camera
  • The camera needs a clear view of you performing the exercise

Start Tracking:

  • Tap “Start Set”
  • Perform your reps with proper form
  • Watch the count update in real-time
  • Complete your set

Confirm and Log:

  • App displays detected rep count
  • Adjust manually if needed (rare)
  • Enter weight used (voice input available)
  • Add notes if desired (how it felt, any issues)

Step 3: Rest and Repeat

Automatic Rest Timer:

  • Timer starts immediately after completing a set
  • Rest period based on your program (customizable)
  • Audio and vibration alert when rest is complete
  • Can adjust or skip rest as needed

Review Your Set:

  • See how current set compares to previous workout
  • Check if you’re on track with progressive overload
  • View historical performance for this exercise

Next Set:

  • Repeat the process for remaining sets
  • Rest timer automatically starts after each set
  • Progress through all sets of the exercise

Step 4: Move Through Your Workout

Exercise Progression:

  • Complete all sets of first exercise
  • Move to next programmed exercise
  • Repeat tracking process
  • App guides you through entire session

Real-Time Analytics:

  • See total volume for the workout
  • Track workout duration
  • Compare to previous similar workouts

  • Skip exercises if needed
  • Add exercises on the fly

Step 5: Finish and Review

Complete Workout:

  • Tap “End Workout” when finished
